At the center of Parisian high society, Violetta lives for pleasure while concealing a fatal illness. When Alfredo declares his love, she dares to believe in a different future — until scandal and family honor intervene. She’s the life of every party, but time is running out.
This elegant production by Francesca Zambello features sumptuous costumes by Tony Award-winner Jess Goldstein, inspired by the paintings of John Singer Sargent. From the sparkling brindisi to the poignant “Addio del passato,” La traviata remains one of opera’s most captivating and devastating love stories. Italian Francesca Pia Vitale makes her American debut as Violetta alongside Ben Bliss as Alfredo.
For the performance on April 30, WNO Cafritz Young Artists take centerstage in the lead roles!
La Traviata is a co-production of Washington National Opera, The Atlanta Opera,
