You love The Marriage of Figaro. Now discover a different side of Mozart.
In Idomeneo: A Trojan Tale, Mozart trades comedy for mythic drama in a powerful story of war, sacrifice, and family. Returning home after the Trojan War, King Idomeneo makes a desperate bargain with the gods to save his son—only to face the devastating cost of that promise.
Reimagined by Francesca Zambello and Kelley Rourke, this theatrical adaptation draws inspiration from ancient Greek theater, placing raw human emotion at the center of Mozart’s magnificent score. Connecting Mozart’s ravishing arias and ensembles, a newly created character, the Trojan Woman, played by Holly Twyford, guides the story forward, while the WNO Orchestra performs onstage in a fully immersive production. Featuring acclaimed tenor Gregory Kunde in the title role, alongside current Cafritz Young Artists, Idomeneo: A Trojan Tale reveals Mozart at his most intimate, urgent, and emotionally powerful.
