Artists and special Guests

American composer Stephen Schwartz

    Honorary Chair Jacqueline B. Mars

Join us on Saturday, May 16, 6pm-Midnight, for a one-night only, unforgettable performance and gala dinner featuring three distinguished special guests—Steven Schwartz, composer, Susan Graham, mezzo-soprano; and Jamie Bernstein, author and daughter of Leonard Bernstein.

The Opera Gala will mark the company’s milestone anniversary season in grand fashion with a program that celebrates the connections between opera and the American musical, including excerpts of operas by Verdi, Wagner and more.

With special guests and performances by the stars of West Side Story, the WNO Cafritz Young Artists, and the WNO Chorus and Orchestra, a grand time will be had by all.

    Special guests:

    • Steven Schwartz, American musical theatre lyricist and composer of hit musicals, including Wicked and Pippin.
    • Jamie Bernstein, Author, director, broadcaster, filmmaker, and daughter of Leonard Bernstein.
    • Susan Graham, American mezzo-soprano hailed as “an artist to treasure” by the New York Times.

Proceeds fully support WNO’s artists, productions, mission, and educational and community programs.
